Tina Thompson

Tina Thompson

Head Coach

One of the most decorated players in women's basketball history, and the newest head coach of UVA women's basketball. She spent two seasons at Texas as an assistant coach, and one as Associate Head Coach. Thompson's playing career includes retiring as the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, a four-time WNBA champion (Houston Comets) and being the first player drafted in the history of the WNBA in 1997. She's also an alum of the University of Southern California where she finished her collegiate career with 2,248 points.

Karleen Thompson

Karleen Thompson

Associate Head Coach

Thompson is a coaching veteran in the WNBA with the Houston Comets, Los Angeles Sparks and most recently with the Atlanta Dream. She has also served as an assistant coach at Clemson from 2010-13.
Thompson served as the head coach and general manager of the Houston Comets from two seasons from 2007-08, promoted to that position after serving as an assistant coach with the Comets the two prior seasons.

La'Keisha Frett

Assistant Coach

La'Keisha Frett Meredith joined the coaching staff in July of 2013. The former All-American and four-time All-SEC honoree at Georgia works primarily with the Cavalier post players. As a player, Frett Meredith enjoyed remarkable success at the prep, collegiate and professional levels. She earned 1993 National Prep Player of the Year honors and then helped lead Georgia to back-to-back Final Four appearances and consecutive SEC titles. Within the professional ranks, her teams advanced to the WNBA playoffs in six of her seven seasons in the league.

Jama Sharp

Jama Sharp

Assistant Coach

The former two-time Atlantic Sun All-Conference selection, Sharp played basketball for four seasons at Stetson, where she was named the 2015 Female Athlete of the Year. The former point guard played in 133 career games with 98 starts, scoring 1,261 career points, which ranks 12th all-time in Stetson history. She finished her career as one of only two players in school history with more than 1,000 points, 400 assists and 250 steals.
